As an artist growing up in the New Orleans Metro area, Christine Diggs greatly enjoys depicting New Orleans architecture, flora and landscapes in her paintings. Her unique style and technique have won her many awards over the last few years from various local art shows; the most recent award being 1st Place for Art Under Glass at the New Orleans Pirate Alley Competition in 2006.

Christine began her art career after receiving a Best of Show Award at the Art in April Festival in St. Bernard Parish in 2002. She had just turned 17 at the time. Christine attributes her talent to the Lord Jesus Christ and is inspired primarily by His creation. Studying under several local artists allowed Christine to refine her work without being confined to any particular individual’s preference as far as style, technique and subject matter.

Though she has painted in other styles, she prefers to paint as she sees things in the real world. Christine particularly likes to experiment with the effects of light and color in her paintings; the effect of layering very thin coats of paint to attain precise colors and shades to best suit each composition. This process also allows her to achieve a more accurate representation of the three-dimensional world.

Over the years, Christine has been commissioned to paint works ranging from landscapes to murals to pet portraits. Though her primary medium is watercolor, she also enjoys working in oil, acrylic, pastel, graphite and clay.
